Mission Statement
To respond in a diverse manner to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Southwestern Pennsylvania by planning, advocating, and supporting the development of culturally competent, comprehensive system of high quality care, prevention and education services.
ACSWP Goals
- To design a needs assessment process and mechanism; and to conduct regional HIV/AIDS services needs assessment.
- To maintain a data collection system for planning, monitoring and evaluating HIV/AIDS services in the region.
- To develop a regional HIV/AIDS services and strategic plan with an annual implementation plan.
- To research best practices models and programs for HIV/AIDS care and prevention for addressing new and special populations.
- To provide technical assistance and training to members of the Coalition and to identify and disseminate information about technical assistance available across the region.
- To conduct targeted outreach to emerging HIV populations working with community partners and the faith institutions
- To identify and invite consumers, minority representatives, and drug and alcohol program representatives and other stakeholders to participate at various levels and in all activities of the Coalition.
- To commemorate, in collaboration with regional partners, HIV educational outreach with HIV testing, in observance of the National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, National HIV Testing Day and World AIDS Day.
