Our Focus

The focus of the project is the African-American community of Allegheny County. The statistics for individuals at high risk for contracting this disease are alarming. According to the Allegheny County Health Department, 15.6% of the county population is Non-White, yet it comprises 54% of the total AIDS cases reported from 1997-2001. From 1997 to the present, African-Americans represent the highest number of AIDS cases reported. The African-American community must respond to this disease.
